Replacement components, inspection and installation for a returning Rotterdam customer’s second and third cranes.
THE CHALLENGE
Following a successful wheel-set replacement in 2021, the customer returned to STARKON for work on cranes two and three in 2022. The age of the cranes and their working environment made axle removal a significant part of the job.
OUR SCOPE
A stooling arrangement and hydraulic jacks relieved the load from the gantry sets. STARKON used thermal lancing where required to remove seized axles. Replacement components were coordinated with suppliers, while reusable parts were inspected and refurbished.
THE RESULT
The work was completed within the agreed ten-working-day window. The team then tested the cranes together with the customer.
