Preventive steelwork reinforcement following a crane lifetime assessment, carried out around an operating rail terminal.
THE CHALLENGE
An engineering assessment identified areas of the main crane structures that needed preventive reinforcement to support the intended service life. Several locations were difficult to reach and positioned above railway tracks.
OUR SCOPE
STARKON completed the reinforcement work on both cranes in cooperation with the terminal. Aerial work platforms provided access, with welders trained to operate the equipment. Engineering support came from IV BV and access equipment from CEBEKO.
THE RESULT
The work was completed within the planned period. Close coordination with the customer and suppliers helped the team reach the required locations while limiting disruption to train movements.
