THE APPLICATION
When a shaft will not come free.
Corrosion, loading and long service intervals can make crane shafts difficult to remove. When conventional dismantling is unsuitable, thermal lancing — also called thermic lancing — can form part of a planned removal method. STARKON combines this work with mechanical dismantling, inspection and replacement component supply.

Assess what remains.
The objective is to remove the seized component while preserving the parts intended for reuse. The condition of the bore, housing and adjacent components determines the follow-up work. We check the retained interfaces before agreeing whether machining, a repair bush or a replacement component is required.
Thermal lancing can be coordinated with wheel-set work, trolley truck overhaul or repairs to crane pivot and hinge arrangements. The method is selected for the individual assembly; retention of the original bore cannot be assumed before inspection.

Planning the work.
Can you remove a seized shaft without replacing the housing?
That is the aim where the condition permits. The assembly and access are assessed first, and the retained housing and bore are inspected after removal before the next repair step is confirmed.
Can removal and replacement be handled together?
Yes. We can coordinate dismantling, shaft removal, inspection and the specified replacement parts within the agreed repair scope.
