Steel coil handling equipment
From entering the coil eye to supporting a coil on a trailer: choose the equipment around the orientation, contact surfaces and handling sequence.

Start with the coil orientation.
Steel coils can require different equipment at each stage of a terminal operation. A forklift attachment, a crane-lifted flat and a trailer-mounted support perform different tasks. First establish whether the coil eye is horizontal or faces upwards, then define how the load will be picked up, moved and set down. Coil weight alone is not enough to select the equipment: width, inside and outside diameter, surface condition and available clearance also matter.

Which equipment fits your task?
| Handling task | Equipment | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Enter the coil eye | Coil rams and coil mandrels | Pin-type, hook-type or fork-mounted interfaces; ram diameter and working length matched to the coil. |
| Load below the forks | Underslung coil hooks | A supporting arrangement below the forks for a compatible loading sequence and receiving vehicle. |
| Handle an eye-up coil | Eye-to-sky coil lifting flats | The documented STARKON reference is a 20 ft lifting flat with a 32-tonne configuration. |
| Support coils on a trailer | Coil adapters | A dedicated coil bed for a compatible flat roll trailer; the adapter and trailer have separate load limits. |
| Provide curved fork contact | Radius-top fork sleeves | A radiused supporting surface specified around the coil and the forklift fork dimensions. |

YOUR ENQUIRY
Send the right starting information.
For a coil-handling enquiry, send the maximum mass, inside and outside diameters, width or height, eye orientation and handling sequence. Include the forklift interface or lifting arrangement and describe any surface-protection requirements. For trailer transport, add point loads, support positions and the intended restraint method.

From specification to delivered work.
Our portfolio includes an eye-to-sky coil flat and coil-handling projects. Their documented configurations provide a starting point for discussion; a different coil or machine interface requires its own assessment.
